About Chosn

Why I built Chosn
Hi, I'm Grace. I've been childfree my whole life, and with that came plenty of opinions: judgment at family gatherings and everyone assuming I'd change my mind. As my closest friends disappeared into parenthood, I realized childfree adults deserved a real place to connect.
Dating apps had a “don't want kids” filter, but nothing built just for us that brought dating, friendship, and community together. So with a master's in human-computer interaction and a decade designing products at startups and big tech, I set out to build the place I wish had existed sooner.
What we hope to alleviate
These aren't small things. And they're easier to navigate when you're not doing it alone.
Finding a partner
Never meeting someone truly childfree, not just “open to it.”
Losing your circle
Friends drifting away into parenthood.
Aging alone
Growing older without a built-in support system.
Feeling dismissed
Being called selfish or told you’ll regret it.
More than a dating app
When I imagined Chosn, I wanted to create more than a dating app. I wanted a virtual third space: somewhere outside of home and work where childfree adults could find familiar faces, feel a sense of belonging, and enjoy spending time together.
My hope is that being part of Chosn feels fulfilling in its own right, through meaningful conversations, shared interests, and people you look forward to seeing again. And that the genuine connections you make here can grow into real-life experiences, from a first coffee or date to a trip you plan together.

Behind the pixels
The pixel art is a nod to the MMORPGs I played online in the early 2000s, where you could customize a character and just hang out. As a shy kid, some of my best childhood friends were people I met in those online spaces.
I wanted Chosn to feel the same way and be a place that invites people to express themselves in a community where they feel understood, leading to genuine connections both online and beyond.
Where things stand
Chosn is being built in the open. When we open, everyone on the waitlist gets in together, online first, with local meetups to follow. The survey shapes what we build before anything else. If you join now, you're not signing up for a mailing list. You're helping decide what this becomes.
Built to feel safe
A childfree space only works if everyone in it is who they say they are. We're planning human profile reviews rather than automated checks, clear community guidelines from day one, and simple ways to report or block anyone who doesn't belong here.
